About Bimetallic Barrel
At Bhagwati Enterprise, bimetallic barrels are manufactured using two different metals or alloys combined to enhance performance and durability. In this design, a strong base material is paired with a specialized alloy coating on the inner surface. This combination significantly improves the lifespan of both the screw and barrel, making bimetallic barrels more durable and efficient compared to standard mono-metallic barrels.
Bimetallic barrels are widely used in plastic processing industries where materials may contain additives or abrasive compounds. They are suitable for applications involving corrosive formulations, regrind materials, calcium-filled compounds, flame-retardant additives, and plastic materials containing up to 15% glass fiber. Their robust structure helps maintain consistent processing performance even under demanding conditions.
To achieve superior wear resistance, advanced hard-facing technology is used during the manufacturing process. The alloy layer is applied with a thickness of more than 1.5 mm, creating a strong metallurgical bond with the base material. This process enhances resistance against abrasion, high temperatures, and chemical corrosion, helping extend the overall service life of the barrel.
Bhagwati Enterprise manufactures bimetallic barrels using EN41B grade steel combined with a nickel-based alloy coating. The barrels are available in diameters ranging from 14 mm to 200 mm and lengths of up to 6 meters, depending on the application requirement. Through the gas nitriding process, the surface hardness can reach approximately 58–62 HRC, ensuring reliable performance and long operational life.
